DAMAC Announced New Projects in Dubai
This week Damac announced its plans for new projects worth US $544 million (AED2 billion), eight of which will be awarded by the end of this year. Construction Week finds out what they are and when to expect tender documents.
1- DAMAC Heights, Dubai Marina
Description: This is a 90-storey residential tower at Dubai Marina featuring one-bedroom units up to duplexes and penthouse apartments.
Status: Enabling works contract award expected in Q4 2009.
Tender: Enabling works contract expected to be tendered this week, the main contract tender is due in October, while the main contract award can be expected in early 2010.
2- Amber Residence, Dubai World Central
Description: Ten-storey residential complex located at Dubai World Central residential city. The development will have retail outlets on the ground floor and feature studio, one and two bedroom units.
Status: Enabling works have been completed by National Piling and the main contractor is due to be appointed in Q3 2009.
Tender: Main contract expected to be tendered in June.
3- Park Central
Description: This is a 17-storey project designed to give views across the lake from three sides of the tower. It has parking on four levels.
Status: Enabling works have been completed by Al Habtoor STFA and the main contract is due to be awarded in Q3 2009.
Tender: Main contract expected to be tendered in June.
4- Lake Side, IMPZ
Description: This will be the third of Damac’s projects to be completed at IMPZ. Lake Side is a three-tower development including one 22-storey tower and two 21-storey towers featuring studio and one- bedroom apartments.
Status: Enabling works have been completed by NSCC with the main contract due to be awarded at the end of Q3 2009.
Tender: Main contract expected to be tendered in August.
5- Burjside Boulevard
Description: Damac’s first luxury residential serviced apartments. Located in the Burj Dubai District, the development will include 36 storeys comprising a mix of different sized apartments.
Status: Enabling work on the project is expected to begin in Q4 2009.
Tender: Enabling works contract expected to be tendered in September.
6- Lincoln Park, Dubailand
Description: Low rise mixed-use development based at Dubailand. Modeled on Chicago style architecture with dedicated commercial buildings with retail and restaurant outlets on the ground floor.
Status: Enabling works have been completed by IFG with the main contract due to be awarded in Q4 2009.
Tender: Main contract expected to be tendered in September.
7- Capital Bay
Description: This is a double tower project (19 storeys each) at Business Bay
Status: Enabling works have been completed by Al Habtoor STFA and the main contract is due to be awarded during Q4 2009.
Tender: Main contract expected to be tendered in September.
8- Commercial Square
Description: This is a 19-storey office tower at Business Bay.
Status: Enabling works are underway by Zetas Zemin Teknolojisi and are 60% complete.
Tender: Main contract tender to go out in October with main contractor to be appointed by end of December 2009.
